Workforce Safety Key to Patient Safety

Health care and safety leaders increasingly recognize that patient safety is not possible without a workforce that is physically and psychologically safe, joyful, and thriving. The COVID-19 pandemic presents an opportunity to proactively evaluate health care leaders’ accountability and practices to embrace and foster workforce safety. This article describes three actionable recommendations to improve workforce safety, which are described in more detail in the report, Safer Together: A National Action Plan to Advance Patient Safety.
