Veterans and IHI
At IHI, we celebrate the unique skillsets and talents that our veteran employees bring. We are committed to providing a military-friendly hiring process by partnering with local and national organizations to recruit and retain veterans. These include but are not limited to the US Department of Veterans Affairs VR&E Program and MassHire’s Department of Career Services.
Once hired, we aim to provide a military-friendly work culture, rooted in the understanding of each veteran’s individual and transformative experience.
“There are many organizations that say they support veteran staff, but I have never worked for an organization that actually shows their support like IHI does. As a disabled veteran that has regular doctor’s visits, I was worried I would hold my projects back or fall behind in my work, but with the support of IHI staff and my colleagues, that has never happened. We genuinely have each other’s back and it feels great being part of a team again.”
—Current IHI Employee, Former Army Combat Medic (68W)
Veterans encouraged to apply!
We hereby pledge our commitment to actively hire veterans of the US Armed Forces. We value and recognize the leadership, training, character, and discipline that our veterans and members of the National Guard and Reserve bring to our company and the American workforce.

IHI Is an Equal Opportunity Employer
IHI is committed to equal employment opportunity regardless of race, color, religion, sex or gender, marital status, national origin or ancestry, disability, veteran status, military service, age, sexual orientation, gender identity, genetic information, crime victim status, political belief, and any other protected class under applicable law. We also consider qualified applicants regardless of criminal histories, consistent with legal requirements. If you have a disability or special need that requires accommodation to complete our application, please let us know. Veterans are encouraged to apply.
We intend to make all reasonable efforts to live up to our Equal Opportunity policy and Affirmative Action Plan. We have prepared the Plan to accurately reflect our current status, our actions to date, and our intentions for the future. The President and CEO has expressed support for the Affirmative Action Plan and assigned overall responsibility for fulfillment of the Equal Employment Opportunity policy and Affirmative Action Plan to Amy Hosford-Swan, Chief Financial and Administration Officer, who will periodically conduct analyses of all personnel actions to ensure that we are living up to our stated intention.
Our management is responsible for the ongoing monitoring of all personnel actions in their respective areas of supervision and will carry out the intentions of the Equal Opportunity policy and Affirmative Action Plan to the fullest extent possible.
Our employment practices are nondiscriminatory and based on factors that are job-related. Factors such as race, color, religion, gender, marital status, national origin or ancestry, disability, veteran status, military service, age, sexual orientation, gender identity, genetic information, or political belief or activity are not job-related. We designed the Affirmative Action Plan to report and monitor all related procedures that will include, but will not be limited to:
- Recruiting, hiring, training, and promoting applicants and employees in all job classifications without discrimination;
- Basing decisions on employment so as to further the principle of Equal Opportunity employment;
- Ensuring that promotion decisions are in accord with principles of Equal Opportunity employment by imposing only valid requirements for promotional opportunities; and
- Ensuring that all other personnel actions, such as compensation, benefits, transfers, layoffs, return from layoffs, IHI-sponsored training, education, tuition assistance, and social and recreational programs, will be administered without discrimination.
We promise not to retaliate against any person who files a complaint concerning Equal Opportunity or Affirmative Action and will ensure that no one harasses, intimidates, threatens, coerces, or discriminates against any individual exercising rights under this policy.
The Persons with Disabilities and Veterans Affirmative Action Plan is available for inspection in the Human Resources Department during normal business hours. Please contact Human Resources for further information.
